Moment of Transparency
I am a divorced and now remarried (different man) woman of 2 biological grown children and 6 “bonus” children. I was born and raised Jehovah’s Witness and at the age of 20 was denounced from their religion. In 1997, I gave my life to Christ.
What inspired me to become a therapist? I grew up in a family where my parents were married for 29 years and then divorced as well as I grew up in a family that was very distant and cold. Along with that, I have been in many unhealthy relationships and divorced after 10 years of marriage, which inspired me to become a therapist so that I could help people grow through their life experiences.
I chose not to go to a Christian based counseling school because I wanted to be able to reach any and all people, even those outside the church. So, although I am not labeled as a Christian counselor, I am a believer and follower of Christ that relies heavily on the Holy Spirit to give me the power I need in my sessions.
In December of 2012, I graduated from a Teachers Training Class at Valley Kingdom Ministries International. As an offering to others, I am qualified to help clients whether you have a religious/spiritual background or not.
As a Solution-Focused and Collaborative therapist, we will have a focus on the solution not the problem and a "give and take" therapeutic relationship. I give of myself through sharing life experiences as deemed helpful to the client and the client will share of themselves, thus a learning, healthy, and growing therapeutic relationship is developed. It is my belief that we are both learning and growing from our sessions together.
I ABSOLUTELY love what I do!
Helping individuals transition as they learn who they are, as they work towards becoming their best self. In couples work, I like to help strengthen the relational bond and help bring clarity in communication. In sum, helping you to help yourself is my joy. My personal model is, “A healed mind leads to a healed life”.
Get Your Mind Right Therapy Services is an inviting, relaxed, honest, and nonjudgmental therapy experience. We provide a safe, comfortable space for you.
I graduated with my masters from Purdue University Northwest in 2012 in Child and Family studies. I like to practice what I preach, so I do self-care. This includes: Seeing a therapist, reading, traveling, journaling, doing my nails, spending time with friends and family, and spending quality time with my amazing husband.
